Hurricane Michael hit North Carolina as a tropical storm on October 11, wreaking havoc to the Greater Charlotte area. The strong storm stayed in the area for 12 hours, receiving 3-5 inches of rain and 35 mph wind gusts.

North Carolina’s Governor, Roy Cooper gave a press conference, saying that “inland hurricanes and tropical storms are life-threatening and can do just as much damages as coastal storms.” He advised residents in the area to be on continue being on alert and stay off the roads for the time being.
